The Financial Confessions

Why tune in to "The Financial Confessions"?

I have been following Chelsea Fagan the host of "Financial Confessions" and the YouTube channel "The Financial Diet" for years now.

Although I'm not in the USA and a lot of financial advice does not apply to me, I still enjoy their videos and podcast for a simple reason.

The podcast and the YouTube channel are not shying away to talk about their personal experiences candidly.

Every aspect of our lives is entrenched with small financial decisions.

How we handle them is different depending on our socio-economic background. "The Financial confession" is a place where people talk about money, privilege, consumerism, fast fashion, and the political and economical aspects of seemingly boring everyday decisions.

Who will like "The Financial Confessions"?

I imagine this podcast would be even more valuable for USA residents and the host and the guests are always talking about the best way to budget or invest.

However, if you're just looking for a podcast in the intersection of pop culture x reality TV x creator economy x politics x personal finance. Then this is definitely for you.

Episode recommendation

It is excruciating for me to select ONLY 1 episode from the TFC feed. I suffered, I really did, and then I decided to put the one I relisten to the most. Because I do relisten to them. Sometimes an uncomfortable about of time!

How A No-Buy Year Can Change Your Brain’s Response To Consumerism

Hannah Louise Poston is a YouTuber for doing a very challenging "No Buy Year". The Rules of the "No Buy Year" vary from person to person, but the gist of it is to stop buying new products for a year.

Hannah debunked her journey into the "No Buy Year" and what changes she noticed in her consumer behavior during that process. She also goes into the gender dynamics of wanting to buy beautiful things.

"I was shopping for beautiful things in a life-ruining way, and I had to slow down or it would spiral", Hannah says talking about the addictive nature of her consumerism.
