April 23 2025 marked a huge milestone in the PWHL as our first ever expansion team was announced in Vancouver and the entire Purple Trio couldn't be more happier for themVancouver is a natural fit as they will be the first team in the league to be the primary tenant of its home arena with their practice facility just a few steps away and following the almighty success of the Takeover Tour they had to go firstWe would like to welcome PWHL Vancouver to the family and we look forward to your first matchup with our Minnesota Frost in the 2025/26 season
This year's IIHF World Championships were electric in Czechia as the competition came to Europe and oh my was our Kelly Pannek on fire as she helped Team USA go undefeated to take the Gold Originally only me and Lady were going to be on today's show as Pluto doesn't normally follow the tournament but as this year he kept making snipe remarks we thought we'd drag him into the studio as well
On March 30 2025 the PWHL Takeover Tour concluded at Enterprise Center, St.Louis as the pressure was on for the Ottawa Charge as they were the only team yet to win on the tour and what a way to get it in drmatic fashion scoring two goals 32 seconds apartSt.Louis I know that you could have done better in terms of attendance and whilst I'm not mad I am however disappointed as you only just managed to better Buffalo even if it was only by 66 people
A few years ago in the UK a major snow blizzard struck with the media nicknaming it the Beast of the East and with our Minnesota Frost on a road trip which included their Takeover Tour stops in Raleigh & Detroit I feel that's what we had becomeThe team needed to improve from last month and while there were a few road bumps along the way I was pleased that Nicole Hensley got back in net and helped her team take the series win over the Toronto SceptresGet in touch at purplereignpodcasts@gmail.com
During the eighth stop of the PWHL Takeover Tour in Detroit an historic milestone was achieved as the league welcome a million fans in attendance across PWHL games since we launched last yearThis is an incredible moment as for other sports teams that would take decades to reach and we've done it in 14 months flat something that should be celebrated not just for the PWHL but for womens sport itselfThe Purple Trio gather to celebrate this moment and we could not be more proud as this milestone leaves us well and truely speechless

On February 23 2025 the PWHL Takeover Tour made its sixth stop at Keybank Center, Buffalo as the New York Sirens finally made their first apperance on the tour in what was a massive letdown attendance wise from Buffalo fans giving the Purple Trio even more proof that New York isn't working as a PWHL marketGAME RECAP - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h82nk8LSud4Boston Fleet 3-2 New York Sirens (SO)Buffalo if you ever want to join this league don't come to me for a reference!!!!
While the PWHL went on break during the Rivalry Series my attention was firmly on the Final Qualification for next year's Olympics with Japan, Sweden and Germany taking the last spots and with that the groups are set and with the potential for PWHL involvement it makes for a very interesting tournment to come
While I was rooting for Connor McDavid and Canada in the 4 Nations final the unthinkable happened in Ottawa when Charge forward Tereza Vanisova and the Fleet's Jill Saulnier fought each other in the first ever fight in the PWHLWhile there is plenty of debate as to whether this was an official fight or not at the end of the day punches were thrown and the incident went viral even making the Daily Mail here in the UKCheck out the article - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/nhl/article-14423331/First-fight-Professional-Womens-Hockey-League.htmlReview the footage for yourselves here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWClE69E4-g
