Welcome to the middle of April and the halfway point of the great TBR spring cleaning of 2025! It's going...well, it's going. Join us, Felicia and Aaron, as we have a more subdued conversation about the Hugo awards, some recent releases, the little reading we managed during a hectic few weeks, and run down some rapid fire recommendations that haven't made it to the podcast. Thank you for listening, and you can reach us at the outlets below.   Books Discussed At Length: The Hunger Games (Suzanne Collins) If You Can't Take the Heat (Geraldine DeRulter) The Summer We Ate Off the China (Devin Jacobsen)   Email - talkbooky@gmail.com Instagram - @talkbooky Felicia's GoodReads - goodreads.com/femarie Aaron's GoodReads - goodreads.com/atcole1400
The temperatures are rising, and the pollen is giving everything a nice yellow glow, so it must be Spring. Join us, Felicia and Aaron, as we struggle through allergies to cover some news about book bans and new releases, exchange some books, and set up a TBR related to Spring. Another month is wrapping up, and our reading is back on track! Join us, Felicia and Aaron, as we cover some March releases and recommendations for Spring Break before covering our reading progress and awarding some superlatives. Expect plenty of range from Hallmark romances, to dark academia romances, to vampire romances, to inanimate object romances, to...what is going on in this episode? Anyway, this one has a little something for everyone. Happy Women's History Month! Although we, Felicia and Aaron, did not focus on Women authors and literature for our March theme, we wanted to take some time to highlight some crucial works by Women in this episode. Join us as we cover some fun news on calligraphy (for some reason) and book awards, discuss recent purchases, and catch up on our current TBR progress. This is all a prelude to rapid recommendations related to Women and an semi-existential question to wrap up the show. Thank you for listening, and we hope you enjoy this one as much as we did. Time for another special episode! Join us, Felicia and Aaron, as we test our booky knowledge with a rather lengthy quiz full of questions about authors, books, publication dates, and almost everything else you can imagine. We prepared a three-part quiz for one another that we use to test each other in alternating rounds. It's designed for you to play along, so you may want to pull out your phone or grab an old-school pen and paper to test your knowledge along with us. Thank you for listening, and you can reach us at the outlets below.   Email - talkbooky@gmail.com Instagram - @talkbooky Felicia's GoodReads - goodreads.com/femarie Aaron's GoodReads - goodreads.com/atcole1400
The long February is over, and we, Felicia and Aaron, are trying to cheer things up in March. Join us on this first episode as we combat lingering strands of pessimism while exchanging books, setting up a TBR with a little...mixing things up. Thank you for joining us, Felicia and Aaron, as we wrap up an unbelievably long February. The social and political climate has taken a toll on us this month, and our reading ground to a halt for a few weeks. In this episode, we share some news, give some sad updates on our TBR progress, try to ignore superlatives for the month, and end with a fun question about what should be at the end of a book. Thank you for listening and sticking with us as we find the spark to read more in March. You can reach us at the outlets below.   Email - talkbooky@gmail.com Instagram - @talkbooky Felicia's GoodReads - goodreads.com/femarie Aaron's GoodReads - goodreads.com/atcole1400
A few weeks into the shortest, and somehow longest, month of the year, we, Felicia and Aaron, regroup to cover our TBR progress and give some rapid fire recommendations on social and political literature. This is a more subdued episode as our brains are slowly decaying with the constant stream of bad news, cold weather, and rain, but we manage to find the energy for some engaging conversations. If you are interested in approachable activism literature or heavy literary theory, we offer both in this episode. Thank you for listening, and you can reach us at the outlets below.   Email - talkbooky@gmail.com Instagram - @talkbooky Felicia's GoodReads - goodreads.com/femarie Aaron's GoodReads - goodreads.com/atcole1400
In this special episode of Talk Booky, we, Felicia and Aaron, decide to rank some book related topics in a way that is a little more...competitive? Mean? Fun? A little of each. We choose four categories and compile lists of items for each category. The list is then read to the other cohost, one item at a time, and the listening cohost has to choose to keep or leave each item. The catch is that we only have five "keeps" and five "leaves," so without a little strategy, we might end up with our favorite book about Minotaurs on a farm (hypothetical - neither of us have read that one...yet) being relegated to the leave category. It's a short, fun side-quest for the podcast during a month of heavy reading, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
