18 episodes   Last Updated: Apr 29, 25
Following in the footsteps of early naturalists, marine scientist and storyteller Charlie Young takes listeners on a journey to wild waters aboard her boat ‘Feral’ as she embarks on a purpose-driven voyage around the planet to uncover the greatest challenges facing the natural world, and tell its story. Part travelog, part natural history docuseries, Charlie shares live accounts in gripping detail of her adventures as she joins local experts, scientists and rangers in the field to meet weird and wonderful wildlife, and shares untold stories of wildlife crime, conflict and conservation.

Episodes

Charlie drops anchor in Charlotteville, Tobago—one of the Caribbean’s most biodiverse corners. But beneath the surface of this tropical paradise lies a much darker truth. In this episode of Voyage to the Wild, we dive into the hidden world of shark fishing and wildlife crime. Joining us virtually is Andrea Crosta, founder and CEO of Earth League International—an organisation known as the “CIA of wildlife trafficking.” With decades of experience investigating environmental crime, Andrea sheds light on how shark fins from small islands like Tobago can end up in global criminal supply chains.⛵️ Subscribe so you don’t miss what’s coming next📸 Follow the journey on Instagram: @voyagetothewild🦈 Follow the work of Earth League InternationalThis series is hosted by Charlie Young.Editing and sound design is by Ross-Ramsey Golding. And our producer is Robert Wallace. This series is brought to you by the generous funding of the Ocean Cruising Club and their 2024 Challenge Grant.

Charlie speaks to Dr. Corrie Moreau: evolutionary biologist, entomologist, and world-leading ant expert. Corrie takes us inside the secret world of ants - to tell us how these insects were the world's first farmers, how they fight legendary wars, and why every ant you see is female!⛵️ Subscribe so you don’t miss what’s coming next📸 Follow the journey on Instagram: @voyagetothewild🐜 Find out more about Corrie's work hereThis series is hosted by Charlie Young.Editing and sound design is by Ross-Ramsey Golding. And our producer is Robert Wallace. This series is brought to you by the generous funding of the Ocean Cruising Club and their 2024 Challenge Grant.
Making it out of the Amazon River, Charlie sails over one of the ocean’s most surprising discoveries—the Amazon Reef. Stretching hundreds of kilometres along the coast of South America, this unique coral system is home to extraordinary life—and faces mounting threats. Joining us on the voyage is submarine pilot and Greenpeace Oceans Director John Hocevar, one of the few people to have seen the reef up close. We also hear from Brazilian climate activist Paloma Costa, who shares what it takes to stand up, speak out, and make a difference in the fight for our planet.⛵️ Subscribe so you don’t miss an episode!📸 Follow the journey on Instagram: @voyagetothewild🐠 Follow John on Instagram: @hocevarjohn, and support the work of Greenpeace by visiting their website.🌱 Follow Paloma’s work on Instagram: @pcopalomaThis series is hosted by Charlie Young.Editing and sound design is by Ross Ramsey-Golding.And our producer is Robert Wallace. This series is brought to you by the generous funding of the Ocean Cruising Club and their 2024 Challenge Grant.
