Segment 1: In this episode of the GSMC College Football Podcast, we break down the shocking resignation of Michigan State athletic director Alan Haller. After nearly five years at the helm—and over two decades of service to MSU—Haller will officially step down on May 11. We explore what led to his exit, his legacy, and how his bold decisions, including the hiring of football coach Jonathan Smith and the firing of Mel Tucker, defined his tenure. With Tom Izzo and Jennifer Smith stepping in as co-interim ADs, the future of MSU athletics enters a pivotal transition. What will this mean for Spartan football, NIL strategy, and Izzo’s eventual successor?Segment 2: We dive deep into the unraveling of Stanford football and the broader struggles facing Cardinal athletics. Once a model of academic and athletic excellence, Stanford has been left behind in the new NIL and transfer portal era. From the shocking $1M NIL departure of softball star NiJaree Canady to four straight 3-9 football seasons, the signs of decline are clear. We unpack how rigid admissions policies, late NIL adoption, and administrative missteps have pushed Stanford from the front lines of college football into survival mode. With Andrew Luck now installed as GM and interim coach Frank Reich at the helm, is this the start of a real turnaround—or just a PR Band-Aid? Join us for expert breakdowns and bold takes on the Cardinal’s path forward.Segment 3: We break down the massive news from Lincoln: 2027 five-star quarterback Trae Taylor commits to Nebraska. Is this the signal that the Huskers are truly back on the rise? We dive into Taylor’s elite skillset, recruiting journey, and why he chose Matt Rhule’s program over powerhouses like LSU, Texas A&M, and Illinois. We also examine the state of Nebraska football—its spring game controversy, staff overhaul, defensive concerns, and whether Dylan Raiola can deliver in Year 2. Has Rhule laid the foundation for a Big Ten contender, or are fans still stuck in the past? From historic sellouts to modern setbacks, we take you deep inside Husker Nation’s hopes for a new golden era.Segment 4: We dive into our full 2025 Louisville Cardinals season preview. Can Jeff Brohm elevate this team from a contender to an ACC champion? With USC transfer Miller Moss at quarterback, one of the nation's best RB duos in Isaac Brown and Duke Watson, and explosive wideouts like Chris Bell and Caullin Lacy, the offense is loaded. But can a revamped offensive line and a secondary full of fresh faces keep up? We break down the key additions and losses in the transfer portal, why Clev Lubin and Adonijah Green could lead a deadly pass rush, and why linebacker TJ Quinn returning is a game-changer. From spring standouts to depth chart battles, this episode has everything you need to know about Louisville football’s ACC title hopes in 2025.Segment 5: We break down the stacked 2025 Big 12 quarterback landscape. From Sam Leavitt leading Arizona State to a Big 12 title, to Kansas State's Avery Johnson emerging as a rising superstar, we cover every top QB to watch. Can TCU’s Josh Hoover repeat his breakout year? Will Jalon Daniels bounce back and shine under new OC Jim Zebrowski? Is Kaidon Salter the ultimate dual-threat weapon at Colorado? We also dive into Rocco Becht’s consistency, Devon Dampier’s potential at Utah, and why BYU’s Jake Retzlaff could be a dark horse with a loaded WR room. With potential NFL talent across the board, the Big 12 is quietly becoming the most quarterback-rich conference in college football.
