In this episode we take a step back and talk about why we chose to watch anime in the first place. There are a lot of fandoms out there, and believe it or not some nerds don't engage with anime at all! So why did we choose anime? Or did anime choose us? Here's what we're reading, recommending, and revisiting this week.Catherine's library find is a book that frankly made us tired: Survival Mom: How to Prepare Your Family for Everyday Disasters and Worst-Case Scenarios by Lisa Bedford. Can't we leave this to the survival dads? Mentioned: How to Survive History: How to Outrun a Tyrannosaurus, Escape Pompeii, Get Off the Titanic, and Survive the Rest of History's Deadliest Catastrophes by Cody Cassidy and a past discussion on how we'd do in a zombie apocalypse (hint: not well).Terri's random recommendation is a comedy special from Brett Goldstein, of Ted Lasso and Shrinking. It's called The Second-Best Night of Your Life and we both enjoyed it, although we'd slap a content warning on it for profanity (this is Roy Kent, after all). Mentioned: Goldstein telling Seth Meyers about how he got his role in Ted Lasso. In the archives, we checked in on an episode from 2020 on laws of parenting.Next week's lineup: Lost S3 E3, "Further Instructions," on Tuesday, June 17Duster S1 E4 on Wednesday, June 18Weekly roundup on Thursday, June 19Until then (and anytime you're in need), the archives are available.

Send us a textStar Wars is a funny thing. We love that we have an embarrassment of riches with constant new content in our favorite galaxy, yet when is it just too much? Do we really need to know all the answers to questions we never asked? Do we always require a character’s legacy to carry on after their dead? Or can we just turn off our brains and enjoy a well animated adventure with one of our favorite characters? You’ll have to tune in to find out as we discuss the Cad Bane story arc from Tales of the Underworld with episodes 4-6. Turn up your headphones, dial back your sensibilities, and join the wretched hive of scum and villainy as we take the low road to resistance on Season Six, Episode Seven of Force Insensitive!Send Email/Voicemail: mailto:forceinsensitive@gmail.comDirect Voice Message: https://www.speakpipe.com/ForceInsensitiveStart your own podcast: https://www.buzzsprout.com/?referrer_id=386Use our Amazon link: http://amzn.to/2CTdZzKFB Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ForceInsensitive/Twitter: http://twitter.com/ForceNSensitiveFacebook: http://facebook.com/ForceInsensitiveInstagram: http://instagram.com/ForceInsensitive

MATERIALISTS MOVIE REVIEW Take one professional matchmaker for the rich and superficial (Dakota Johnson), one ex-boyfriend with all the looks and personality but no money (Chris Evans), and one absurdly rich dude who is that rare one that doesn’t seem to be a total schmuck (Pedro Pascal), and you get the love triangle that makes […]

The last episode of season two has aired and been reviewed, which means it's time for the wrap-up episode! Kat, Liz, and Tansy have gathered to give their opinion on Ncuti's time as the Doctor, the wonderful companion Belinda Chandra, and create their wishlists for the future of Doctor Who. As for the future of Verity! the podcast is taking a break for now, but we'll let you know what's next as soon as we know. Lynne and Erika couldn't make the episode, but they've given their Doctor Who future wishlists: Erika's Wishlist: 1. I want MORE WRITERS! My favourite eps have been the non-RTD eps, and I would like more of those (preferably from a very diverse set of writers). 2. I want new blood at the helm -- someone who grew up on the modern series not the classic series. And for the love of Susan, not a white dude, please. 3. Speaking of Susan, I'd like Carole Ann Ford to get an actual, proper appearance that genuinely works and isn't weird nonsense. (Yes, I'm referring to both her onscreen appearances and the rumours of what was supposed to happen before the rewrites. I think it's all nonsense.) Lynne's Wishlist: 1. I wish that the BBC would openly recognize Doctor Who as a unique and wonderful thing that only the BBC could have created and be proud of it instead of treating it more often than not as something they grudgingly tolerate. 2. I wish for a sufficient number of well-crafted episodes to directly match up with the time and money that are available to create them. 3. I wish for more bold and inclusive storytelling. This season felt like Doctor Who was starting to find its groove again, and I would hate to lose that momentum. 4. BRING BACK RIVER SONG! Dearest listener, what does your wishlist for Doctor Who look like? What have we missed in our reviews? Leave us a comment or join the discussion on Instagram and Bluesky. Listen to Liz (and Paul's) podcast Telefantasy Time Jump! ^K
