One Day
April 09, 2025 · 20 min

The focus of our venture, One Day – Auto-portraits in Sound, revolves around building a sound portrait of each team member with the events of a single day. Including activities such as cooking, hanging out with friends, listening to music, or day trip as a way of understanding the concept of self-representation. Each team member is allowed to either demonstrate their ordinary life or a fictional character, which allows room for imagination. These togetherness soundscapes make up a bigger picture of personal stories set within the structure of ‘One Day’.

1. Alix, 19, aspiring circus performer and music lover. Goes to gigs and spends time with friends. (Louiza)

2. Mariam, 24 years old, an art student. The recording shows the simplicity of a student’s

day between its school life and house life, tasks, duties and fun. A story to be told by the

individuals words. (Mariam)

3. Malonne, a designer works at home, spent the day with knife, pencil and heat. (Ziyi)

4. Amy, a photographer living in the city Phoenix. The recording starts with a short trip during the day time, then enter the dreamy night. Mixing a bit contrast of reality and dream. (Yi)

5. Malcom, 8:53, no clue about pm or am, his alarm clock works no more. (Aristide)

This audio project invites listeners to imagine stories through the medium of sound, highlighting the richness of everyday life. By weaving together field recordings, we aim to create immersive soundscapes that challenge the audience to build their own narratives from auditory cues.

The project draws inspiration from sound artists like Luc Ferrari, known for his evocative environmental recordings, and Hildegard Westerkamp, who explored storytelling through soundscapes. Our work bridges art and imagination, allowing sound to become a canvas for the listener's creativity.

This collaborative effort was created by Mariam, Louiza, Ziyi,

Aristide, & Yi.
